after a long flight from o'hare, we are in london, for anyone charting our progress. i woke up with a kink in my neck on thursday and can't seem to shake it, it feels like a pinched nerve, so the plane ride was relatively uncomfortable. my newly acquired 'gold' status with american airlines advantage club didn't seem to get us any perks that might make the journey more comfortable. ah well.
tonight we're off to dinner at a favorite brixton haunt, and then possibly into town to watch the packers game at an american sports bar. we had a nearly 4 hour nap this afternoon, so i think we'll make it into the wee hours.
next week is work for me, training the woman who will take over part of my position, and a few days in the office. tomorrow, hopefully wandering around spittalfields. we shall see. i've no real plan.
leaving in less than 3 weeks for the gambia. crazy! i'll get that african blog up soon!

Put all your energy into staying in the moment while you are there. Your life will be all the richer for it when you get back it!
I feel the envy welling up inside me--I want to go back to London during any season. Enjoy yourself there! You are awesome; going to Africa and taking the time to know others is such an inspiring choice. I hope you have a satisfying week of training; it may be a little bitter sweet, but there is always a pint at the end of the day. Snow skiing--bah humbug. Chuck Heath
You really are a wonder. A litle scary to watch from the outside at times, but a wonderful, wonderful person. Don't always agree with everything you think or do, but who does, always? Most always. That's certainly enough, I'd think, for a VERY high opinion of you.
Anyway, you make life magic for those around you, and I know you will continue to do so. You've just always been that type. Comes straight from you heart. You shine in a crowd, unable to be missed. Usually the rare Gem in a room of rough stones, I think.
Snow is NOT only good for skiing, though skiing IS fun once you get the hang of it. But snow holidays are a LOT of fun even if you DON'T ski. Late night time walks in the snow, loving kisses trying to stay warm, hot chocolate by the fire shared with a friend or loved one, even the rare castle and medieval town on a magical snowy night, snow crunching underfoot, flakes above...Ahhh!
Your traveling years, your adventures, your cheerful attitude, your kind spirit, your laid back but still motivated style, your ability to have fun but still be (mostly) responsible. Jason (or any man, for that matter) must know how lucky he is to spend time with you, however long the adventure lasts...whether weeks, months, years, or forever. I'd bet most past loves would agree. Time spent close to you is a time to be treasured.
A gem. Keep shining. I know you will. Be careful in Africa!
